Daystar Spring Performances Enthral Audiences

Daystar showcases our students progress in music, performing arts, and visual arts through our Spring Performances. And last Thursday and Friday, our Daystar community were in for a treat!

On Thursday evening, we held the first evening of performances from our students in grades K – 2nd and special performances from our Found Sound Ensemble, Chamber Music group, and Choral group (mixed age students).

Each class also had a chance to showcase their talent, from singing wonderful Chinese songs, to dancing to the latest hit “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake! The evening was filled with dancing, singing, and at one point even getting the audience up on their feet and participating in the dance!

On Friday, it was a special evening showcasing our Found Sound Program, led by our K-12 Music Director, Bruce Gremo. Students from Grades 3 - 7 displayed their learning of ear training oriented towards rhythm, group interaction, and improvisation. And drum solos from various students gave it a special touch. As the program continues to develop we are able to see our students’ appreciation of music grow and confidence in performance of their created music pieces.

We thank our teachers Bruce Gremo (K-12 Music Director), Wang Yunsi (K-2 Music teacher) and Sammy Sibanda (Performing Arts teacher), and the stage and sound volunteers-and of course, our students, for putting on another wonderful show.

In the mean time, we have also kicked off our Art Exhibition, featuring wonderful student work from K-Grade 7. The art has been wonderfully organized and will be on display till the middle of June in Daystar’s Middle School Building. We will be writing a separate post to provide more details and capture all the beautiful work for you. But be sure to drop by and check it out in person if you have a chance!
